Helping orphans is a precious treasure for us who live in today’s world, where it is understood how valuable the responsibility of extending a helping hand to different oppressed geographies. It is known by everyone that in a world of war, internal turmoil, conflict, and political ambitions, those who experience the deepest feelings of loneliness are orphans. Therefore, helping orphans in such a world is more of a duty than a choice for us.

Helping orphans, dressing orphans, and making orphans happy means being deemed worthy of the blessings of an honorable institution in Islam. It has been clearly stated that the people who caressed the orphan’s head, took them under their protection, and gave them a place at their tables, in short, those who help orphans are rewarded by our Prophet. Considering that the Prophet Muhammad, who lost his father at a young age, was also an orphan, it is understood that receiving prayers from an orphan will lead to unique blessings.

In our world, where severe consequences are seen as a result of wars and internal turmoil such as in Palestine, Iraq, Syria, and Arakan, hunger and famine that ravaged African countries resulted in deaths, and natural disasters in countries such as Pakistan and Aceh bring deaths, the number of orphaned children is increasing day by day. Only in Syria, approximately 800,000 children have been orphaned and 140 million children in the world are struggling to survive as orphans currently. Orphan donation systems provide a very important step for humanity to solve these problems even a little bit.

Through orphan sponsorship, it becomes possible to meet the basic needs of orphans such as monthly food and clothing, to provide stationery for their education, and to make them happy by doing these helps. Our Goals with the Orphans Aid Project

Within the scope of the orphan aid project, we can list our goals as the following subheadings:

• To provide a safe home for orphaned children, especially in regions where wars and natural disasters are experienced,
• To create healthy and safe living spaces for them, where they will not be detached from their own culture and country,
• To meet all needs of orphans, from shelter to education and health, with stable aid,
• To show them they are not alone and not to make them feel the absence of their mothers or fathers as much as we can,
• To act as a bridge between volunteers who want to help orphan children.

We aim to be a permanent supporter of orphans instead of just one-time aid with our orphan sponsorship system. To take care of orphans, who have been made even more lonely by the effects war and poverty after losing their families, to strengthen them both mentally and physically, to support them, and to ensure that they continue their education without interruption are among the duties we undertake.

While helping orphans, we are not only helping them but also their mothers, who have to take on the role of both mother and father for their children. Because for a mother who has no financial income, nothing is more sad and hurtful than her child’s inability to get an education, not having clothes, or even not being able to meet basic human needs such as shelter and food.

The only way to rebuild a society is if the next generation gets a good education and leads a decent life as children. It is not possible for orphans and children, who grow up in turmoil, poverty and fear to have the means to rebuild society. It should not be forgotten that orphan sponsorship projects can rebuild an orphan first, then a family, then a society, and a whole country, and the orphan aid system should be evaluated from this perspective as well.

Orphan Sponsorship and Cost of Orphan Sponsorship

Our orphan sponsorship system, which we have created to meet the needs of orphans, progresses within the following stages:

• By submitting an application through all our communication networks and orphan donation channels, you inform our foundation that you want to help orphans and that you volunteer to meet the needs of an orphan and support them.
• After your aid notification, we sent you the file and information of one of our orphans whose needs we have identified. Then, you will be given an “Orphan Tracking Code” indicating which orphan you support.  
• The orphan sponsorship fee is deducted from your card which you have determined.
• Once a year, the “Orphan Development Report”, which is prepared in detail, where you can access the updated photos and information of the orphan you support and the letter they wrote to you, is sent to you by our foundation.
• The whole process is carried out transparently and you are informed in detailed reports that your support within the scope of the orphan aid project is reciprocated.

With this orphan sponsorship cost, which is a small amount for most of us, it is in our hands to change the life of an orphan. I Want to Help Orphans

We have shared with you how you can participate in our orphan aid project and the summary of the project in general. In addition, we would like to explain the details of our project to our volunteers who say, “I want to help orphans” and answer their questions such as where, how, why, who and whom.

We would like to state that it is possible to help orphans in various categories such as orphan donations and orphan sponsorship. Being a sponsor of an orphan is a monthly aid model and has been organized to meet the monthly needs of orphans identified by our foundation. With the orphan sponsorship, the various needs of an orphan such as education, health, clothing, food, and shelter are monthly met.

Another model of the orphan donation project is special aids such as holiday gifts or charity breakfasts for orphans within the scope of donations to orphans. Unlike the orphan sponsorship model of our project, these donations are characterized as on-time donations or partial donations that can be repeated more than once, instead of regular aid every month. Special aid activities are organized in this way to the extent required by the situation and in line with the needs.

All volunteers who say “I want to help orphan children” can contribute to our orphan aid activities with both orphan sponsorship and orphan donation models.

Aid to Syrian Orphans

After the Syrian civil war that started in 2011, millions of people had to migrate to different countries. The people who stayed in the country faced many negative conditions such as poverty, hunger, and thirst. Thousands left behind nearly half a million people who lost their lives in the civil war.

With our orphan aid project, by making it our duty, we aimed to help Syrian orphans and meet their needs. Let’s change the atmosphere of fear and tension of the civil war for Syrian orphan children and help them, even if only a little, in the lives they could not live. Aid to Tanzanian Orphans

Thousands of orphan children living in Tanzania, one of the poorest countries in East Africa, continue their lives under difficult conditions without being able to meet their basic needs such as health and shelter. Our foundation, which continues its aid activities in Tanzania as in countries around the world, meets the needs of orphans with the Tanzania Orphan Aid project.

Aid to Nigerian Orphans

Like most African countries, the people of Niger were exposed to many terrorist attacks in 2021, as in previous years.  In every terrorist attack, many children lose their families and become orphans. In addition to terrorist attacks, many deaths occur due to similar problems such as poverty, and access to food and water in the country.

It is in our hands to take care of the Nigerian orphans left alone by the deaths of their families. Within the scope of our Burkina Faso orphan aid project, we want to support orphans who struggle with their loneliness as well as all their troubles in this poor country. The Importance of Helping the Orphans

The importance of helping orphans in the religion of Islam is expressed in both verses and hadiths. In many verses of the Qur’an, orphans have been specifically addressed and special provisions have been made regarding them. Some of these provisions are as follows:

“Those who eat the property of orphans unjustly, will only eat fire to fill their abdomens, and they will enter a blazing fire (hell).” (Surah of Nisa – Verse 10)

“They ask you what they will spend in the way of Allah. Say: ‘Whatever good you spend is for parents, relatives, orphans, the poor and the wayfarer. Whatever good you do, Allah knows it well.” (Baccarat- 215)

There are many hadiths about orphans. Based on the large number of hadiths, the importance that our Prophet Muhammad gave to orphans is obvious. There are hadiths on many subjects such as making orphans happy, dressing an orphan, getting prayer from an orphan, and ignoring the rights of orphans.

Some of the hadiths about orphans are as follows:

“If a person caresses the head of an orphan just for the sake of Allah, there is a merit for every strand of hair they touch.” (Ahmed ibn Hanbal, Musnad, V, 250.)

“If a person takes an orphan from a relative or someone else until the orphan grows, Paradise will be obligatory for that person.” (Ravi: Adiyy Ibni Hakam)

It is understood from the quoted verses and hadiths that the importance of helping orphans has been emphasized many times in the religion of Islam. When we manage to act with this awareness, we will hold the hands of our orphans from all over the world, help them, and pull them out of their loneliness.
